Registering for an NPI Number

We require all therapists on BetterHelp to have an NPI number. If you do not already have one, the process is simple - you can complete the NPI application online. If you already have an NPI number, or if you can't remember whether you do, feel free to check the database here.

We encourage you to complete the rest of your profile and continue the application process while you wait for your number!

Additional details:

CMS estimates that, in general, a health care provider who submits a properly completed, electronic application could receive an NPI within 10 business days. We encourage you to continue in the application process while waiting for your NPI.
There are two categories of health care providers for NPI enumeration purposes: "Entity Type 1 - Individual Health Care Providers" and "Entity Type 2 - Organization Health Care Providers." Please complete the Entity Type 1 application.
BetterHelp is an online counseling platform and not a group health care provider/organization, so you do not need BetterHelp’s EIN to complete this process. (If you do bump into this field, you have made a mistake.)
