Tips for a Successful Video Interview
Prior to your video interview:
- Please make sure to go to your Account Settings to finish setting up your BetterHelp profile until all tabs are green. This is critical as your interviewer will reference the information in your profile during the interview. (You can always navigate to your "Account Settings" in the top right corner of your BetterHelp Dashboard, in the menu under your photo.)
Instructions for how to start your video interview:
- Approximately 5-15 minutes before your scheduled interview time, sign into your BetterHelp account.
- Click on the Test Client located within the Active tab of your Dashboard. Your screen will change.
- When your interviewer arrives online, the Test Client will turn green.
- At this point, please initiate a video session with your interviewer by pressing on the green video camera icon.
- When done successfully, you will then be connected to your interviewer!
- The first thing you will do with your interviewer is display a valid form of identification (Driver License or Passport). If you do not have it with you, we will not conduct the screening.
How to prepare for your interview:
- Please read the Counselor Guide through in its entirety! This is located in the top right corner of your screen, under the “Help” menu; and covers everything from compensation to platform features.
- Please confirm that your personal computer has both the microphone and camera connected, prior to the interview. (Interviews from phones or tablets are not accepted.)
- Please test your video and audio connection at least 1 day BEFORE your scheduled interview. This is located in the top right corner of your screen, under the “Help” menu, and is called “Video Session Test.”
- Please make sure you are using Google Chrome. Many unsuccessful candidates try to use another browser instead, but Google Chrome works best. Confirm that your Google Chrome is up to date here: https://www.google.com/chrome/update/
- Optional, but highly encouraged: Please read through the Example Clients located on your Dashboard.
Common mistakes that will delay your approval:
- Not taking the interview from a professional, private environment.
- Not taking the interview from your personal computer. No phones or tablets, please!
- Not having a valid form of ID ready at the start of your interview (Driver license or Passport)
- Not uploading a license certificate (LPC, LCSW, etc.) that clearly displays an expiration date.
- Not showing up and/or not being on time for your scheduled interview. Please note that if you are not in the interview room within 5 minutes of the beginning of your time slot, our team will no longer be able to conduct the screening.
- Scheduling with the Test Client, rather than through the Calendly link. Again, when you schedule your interview correctly through the Calendly link, you will receive a confirmation email and the name of your interviewer.
